Recruitment at the Australian High Commission, Tuvalu
There are two categories of staff employed at the Australian High Commission, Tuvalu: Diplomats and Locally Engaged Staff (LES).

Diplomats are Australian Government employees, posted to Tuvalu to undertake specific roles with diplomatic responsibilities.

Locally Engaged Staff (LES) are recruited locally and support the work of Australian diplomats. LES are employed under Tuvaluan labour law and may be hired on an ongoing or temporary (fixed-term) basis.
Employment at the High Commission in Tuvalu is based on merit.

Recruitment and selection process

All positions advertised at the Australian High Commission, Funafuti, have a job description setting out the job responsibilities; required competencies, skills, and/or qualifications required to perform in the position; and selection criteria which shapes your response.

INTERVIEWS
Due to the high number of applications received, only those applicants considered most suitable will be contacted for interview.
A selection committee will be established to assess applicants against the requirements of the job.
Interviews will take place in person or online. Applicants will be asked a series of set questions based on their experience, skills and knowledge to determine their suitability for the position.
Applicants rated suitable by the selection committee will have referee, background, qualification and employment checks.

Suitable applicants may be offered a position at the High Commission once all checks are done.

Assistant Program Manager (LE4) – Development
Are you organised, analytical and interested in international development?
We are seeking an Assistant Program Manager to support the delivery of Australia’s development program in Tuvalu, working across health, education, gender, humanitarian and governance initiatives.
Salary: LES 4 commencing from $20,636.64 up to $23,231.52 per annum.
Executive Assistant, Visits and Protocol Officer (LE4)
We are looking for a highly organised and professional Executive Assistant, Visits and Protocol Officer to provide administrative, protocol and event coordination support to the High Commissioner and senior staff.
Salary: LES 4 commencing from $20,636.64 up to $23,231.52 per annum.
Senior Program Manager (LE6) – Development
A senior leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Program Manager to manage key Australian aid investments in Tuvalu, including health, gender, humanitarian and social sectors.
LES 6 commencing from $30,021.48 up to $33,770.316 per annum.
